Ruth Jordan

I am a Senior Accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and registered with United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapists as an integrative psychotherapist. I trained at the Minster Centre in London and qualified in 1992. I have over 30 years experience of working in the mental health profession as a counsellor, psychiatric nurse (RMN), as a senior practitioner in a community mental health team and in specialist projects for people with addiction problems.

There are many types of counselling, I am trained in integrative/psychodynamic approaches. As an integrative therapist I believe that no one way of working is right for everyone and am able to draw on a range of therapeutic models. I have a particular interest in our early experiences and relationships and how these can help us understand some of the difficulties we might find ourselves in later life.

I am also trained in CBT skills and may occasionally use these as part but of our work together.

I have considerable knowledge and understanding of mental distress and the ways in which it can affect individuals, their families friends and partners.
I am also a qualified and experienced supervisor of counsellors and work with individuals and groups. I am particularly interested in supporting counsellors working towards accreditation.

I am committed to being involved in local projects that provide counselling and am active member of Dorset Action on Abuse a charitable organisation that provides counselling for adult survivors of abuse. I am also membership secretary for Dorset Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.

I am committed to BACP code of ethics and subject to Minster Centre and BACP complaints procedures.
